—-
Slowly, I watched myself take root.
Once, out of longing, I prayed for a wind.
Then I blamed it — for carrying me over mountains I never chose.
Later, I resented its silence,
for letting me fall, grounded, unable to fly.
I looked around: no familiar face, no certain future —
only another small seed, resting close beside me.
Year after year, my tears fed me,
watering a small, stubborn sprout.
Still I refused to stay. I kept calling for the wind
to carry me far again —
but the wind had long gone, and the season had not yet returned.
More years passed. I refused to grow,
swaying, unsteady.
The seed beside me, afraid for me, grew hard and fast —
leaf by leaf, a canopy against the frost.
Until one day, I dried my eyes
and found myself in a field of flowers, drenched in sunlight.
The green had been there all along,
waiting only for me to wake.
And so, I thanked the wind. I thanked its design.
At last — just as my roots took hold —
I felt the breeze arrive again.
